Former Kern County Deputy Gabriel Lopez was sentenced Wednesday after he pleaded non-contest to all six felony counts filed against him for the March 2013 sexual battery against two Tehachapi women. Deputy District Attorney John Allen says the crimes occurred over a two day period and the Sheriff’s Department gave them a very good case against Lopez to work with. Allen says the judge commented on how this type of crime affects the public trust of law enforcement during sentencing, Lopez was taken into custody to start his sentence and must register as a sex registrant after being released from prison.
