Sheriff’s search and rescue crews have recovered the body of a 23-year-old man who drowned at Buena Vista Lake southwest of Bakersfield.

He had been swimming with his family around 3:00 Thursday afternoon when he went under. He was not wearing a life vest. The family had tried to save him.
