Police are investigating after a threat was made against the Henrietta Weill Memorial Child Guidance Clinic on Stockdale Highway in Bakersfield.
Sgt. Joe Grubbs says a call came in on Jan. 20, with the caller saying an attack was going to be launched on the center Thursday.
“I won’t be specific to the threat because there’s still an investigation ongoing, but it was violent in nature,” Grubbs said.
He said it did affect operations at the clinic.
“My understanding is that center and a couple of others around Bakersfield decided to close down as a result of those threats,” Grubbs said.
An satellite office in Delano was also closed. All of the offices are expected to reopen Friday.
Grubbs says BPD is trying to figure out who made the call. Those with more information are being urged to call police at (661) 327-7111.
