The Bakersfield City Council has opted to not pave a Truxtun Avenue culvert that would’ve connected with the Kern River Parkway trail.

Council voted 6-1 Wednesday after over an hour of discussion.

Several Quailridge Road residents spoke against the plan, saying that improving the pathway would lead to increased crime.
