Kern County firefighters are letting a 20-foot-tall haystack burn after it caught fire on a dairy farm at Magnolia Avenue and 7th Standard Road northeast of Buttonwillow, saying they’re trying to conserve water.

Investigators aren’t sure what caused the fire, which happened at around 8 a.m. Thursday.
