The city of Bakersfield says people are generally complying with new outside watering restrictions approved by the city council.
Water Resources Director Art Chianello says his office, however, has been receiving a steady stream of complaints since April 22.
“We’re probably getting somewhere between 60 and 75 complaints per day,” he said.
Council passed three-day-a-week irrigation rules for residents and businesses last month, as the city attempts to make its 36 percent state-mandated usage cut.
Chianello says it’s too early to tell how much water is being saved by the new restrictions.
