The Kern County Probation Department is slated to get about $1 million from the state to supplement its budget, courtesy of prison realignment under AB109.
Probation Chief T.R. Merickel says several county agencies figured out how to split about $35 million during a Community Corrections Partnership meeting Wednesday.
“Everyone was to keep their existing percentage of this base allocation,” he said. “The base went up a little bit this year, so everybody got a bump in dollars.”
Merickel says the group will finalize the split in about six weeks, then bring the proposal to supervisors.
