The coroner’s office has confirmed the infant found dead in Shafter was the victim of homicide, but additional tests will need to be done to determine the exact cause of the boy’s death.

The child was found Friday near James Street and Sunset Avenue about three hours after an injured woman was found in a downtown park. Police say those incidents are related, but aren’t saying anything further.
