A man wanted on outstanding felony warrants is in custody after being shot at by Kern County Sheriff’s deputies about 10 miles northwest of Rosamond.
Sheriff’s spokesman Ray Pruitt said deputies were told the man was inside a trailer near 100th Street West and Hamilton Road before 4 p.m. Tuesday.
“They approached the trailer on foot, and, at one point, he confronted the deputies,” he said. “He was armed with a handgun.”
Pruitt says the two deputies then fired, and a SWAT call-out was forced after the man retreated into the trailer.
He was arrested about 90 minutes later and treated at a hospital.
It’s not clear how many times he was struck by the gunfire, Pruitt said. The extent of the man’s injuries also isn’t clear.
