The Kern County Sheriff’s Office says a nearly 150-person multi-agency group will remain focused through the weekend on a 3,200-square-acre spot in rugged terrain near Weldon, looking for a squatter who held three people at gunpoint, killed a dentist and injured two SWAT deputies in a shootout.
Sheriff’s spokesman Ray Pruitt says detectives are reviewing multiple tips after a composite photo was published Monday.
“We have detectives following up on all of those leads, but, at this point, we have not positively identified the suspect,” he said.
Pruitt wouldn’t say if he expects the search party to expand over the weekend.
