State Republicans have announced an affordable housing plan. The move came a day after Democrats in Sacramento unveiled a plan to spend $1.3 Billion on new affordable housing programs. The GOP plan announced Tuesday relies on tax credits to lower home costs. At the announcement, Bakersfield’s State Senator Jean Fuller said letting people keep their own money rather than having a government program hand funding out better allows people to fit their own needs. Both plans will now compete for legislative support as they are readied to be introduced as bills at the Capitol.
