A fire in a home east of Bakersfield has caused $120,000 in damage while the woman who lived there was away.

Kern County firefighters got the call from Eastwind Circle off Kern Canyon Road around 11:45 Sunday morning and found the house about 50% involved with flames that also threatened neighboring homes.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
