The USDA is providing money to construct affordable apartments.The homes are for farm workers in Kern County. The agency announced Wednesday a $3 million loan is going to private developers for 58 apartments in Bakersfield and another $3 million is being loaned for 68 units in McFarland. The projects had previously been given approval by the Board of Supervisors but now have approved funding.
