The iconic Bakersfield High School water tower is no longer standing over Griffith Field. The famous tower has been there since 1933. A giant crane lowered the tank and legs onto its side early Monday where it will be put on a trailer and later taken to the Kern County Museum on Chester Avenue. The time of the move has not been finalized but should be within a week. The tower had to be removed to make way for a new athletic track.
