A Mexican national has been charged, arrested, pleaded guilty and was sentenced in one day.The sentence was for thirteen months for causing the Cedar Fire. Assistant U.S. Attorney Karen Escobar says 29-year-old Angel Garcia went before a federal magistrate Thursday in Bakersfield who also brought up the matter of restitution. He owes $61 million for the cost of fighting the fire and was ordered to pay that $25 per month. Garcia lied to investigators about driving off road on August 16th which sparked the 29 thirty thousand acre fire. He had driven off road in a Nissan Maxima with his 4-year-old son inside and the car got stuck and sparked dried grasses. He told Forest Service officers the car had been left on Highway 155 and was stolen.
