FROM GREASE TO GREEN

A green energy plant on Millux Road southeast of Bakersfield has completed a major expansion. The work was financed with the help of a $5 million state grant. Crimson Renewable Energy President Harry Simpson says the plant that was first opened in 2009 has more than doubled its capacity. The expansion has taken two and a half years to complete but the bio diesel plant can now produce 24 million gallons a year. Crimson takes local kitchen grease and animal byproducts and converts it into diesel fuel used by the local trucking industry. This is the second State Energy Department grant the company has received.
