A sanitation company that provides services in the mountains and desert has informed Kern County of impending layoffs.The news might not be as bad as it sounds. Benz Sanitation is being purchased by Houston-based Waste Management and the buyer says they intend to keep most if not all of the 133 employees now working in Tehachapi, Rosamond and Ridgecrest. Benz provides trash collection, recycling and propane services.
