A 25-year-old Bakersfield man has been arrested after auto theft task force members saw him washing a pickup truck in a Mt. Vernon Avenue parking lot. The CHP says the truck was stolen, so a K-9 unit helped take Nathan Smith into custody Monday.

They found a loaded gun in his waistband that was also stolen, and there was an assault rifle in the truck.
