The Bakersfield police civil service commission has announced their recommendations for the next Chief of Police. Assistant Chief Lyle Martin is the top contender for replacing Chief Greg Williamson, he had been an applicant the last time the job was open, Lieutenant Jason Townsend is ranked second by the commission and Captain Rene Chow is third. A new chief should be named before the end of the year when Williamson retires.
