Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting on Pacheco Road in south Bakersfield that left a man dead and sent two BPD officers to the emergency room with gunshot wounds. It began around 9:15 Wednesday night as officers responded to a peace disturbance involving a man with a gun. Police Chief Lyle Martin says the wounded officers are Matthew Johnson and Joshua Deutinger.

Johnson and Deutinger are in stable condition. Both the suspect and officers exchanged fire inside the residence.
