The Bakersfield City Council has voted unanimously to remove crosswalks from two intersections in order to move forward with the 24th Street widening project. The vote Wednesday night comes after hundreds of Westchester residents signed petitions to keep them at at Alder and A streets plus Drake and D streets.

Ward 2 Councilman Andrae Gonzales, who represents the district, asked staff to come up with a design for a replacement crosswalk.
