Governor Brown has signed a bill by Bakersfield Assemblyman Rudy Salas that allows eye doctors to expand the care they give patients. Assembly Bill 443 lets optometrists train for and then test for diabetes, give flu shots and other vaccines, and treat glaucoma. The measure is intended to give more healthcare options to rural patients.
