City firefighters saved $2 million in equipment after a large fire tore through a rubber molding business in east Bakersfield. A mechanical failure sparked the fire on Industrial Street near East Brundage Lane Tuesday afternoon, and the building’s sprinkler system helped douse the flames.

There were no injuries.
