Kern County deputies have shot a pit bull after it attacked a man on Valencia Drive just north of Niles Street in east Bakersfield. The sheriff’s office says around 3:30 Monday afternoon the animal broke loose from a side yard. The man was bitten on the arm and leg and the officer tried using a taser but it had no effect, the dog was taken by animal control.
