Bakersfield firefighters are investigating what sparked a fire Tuesday morning that gutted a vacant two-story apartment complex downtown. The fire sparked on the first floor around 1:00 on C and 20th streets.

No one was found during a search of the property, which had been boarded up, and no firefighters were hurt.
