Bakersfield firefighters have sent a 26-person Search and Rescue team to Santa Barbara County to help with evacuations in areas hit by wildfires and mudslides. Battalion Chief John Frando says they’re happy to lend a hand. The team is one of only 12 in California that’s certified to make difficult rescues on land and swiftwater. Many communities below the Thomas Fire burn scar are under threat of mudslides, 21-people died and several homes were destroyed in January’s massive debris flow.
