Houchin Community Blood Bank has opened their third location in Bakersfield as a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held today, Thursday.
It’s part of Houchin’s goal of reaching a new generation of donors and provide convenience to people wishing to donate. Houchin President and CEO Sean McNally says this is something residents have been asking for for a long time since their G Street location closed down.
The new location is at 2671 Oswell Street, Bakersfield 93306.

BAKERSFIELD, CA – Houchin Community Blood Bank is excited to announce the grand opening of a new donor center in East Bakersfield. This location will provide a more convenient location for many of our donors that live or work on the East side of Bakersfield as well as provide a greater opportunity to spread awareness about the need for blood donations in that area. This donor center will have a total of 4 whole blood beds and 2 trima (platelet/plasma) beds.
“With 39.6% of our overall donor base being from the East side of Bakersfield, this new location will provide convenient opportunities to donate as well as reach a whole new donor base.” said Sean McNally, Chief Executive Officer. “This donor center signifies the growth of Houchin Community Blood Bank as well as the continued support from our East Side community partners and the growing and vital Hispanic community that we all admire and rely upon.”
