Kern County Elections staff have completed their portion of the recount in the race between Republican David Shepard, and State Senator Melissa Hurtado, and there are no changes to report. Shepard requested recounts in 70 of the 300 precincts and won over 57-percent of the vote, but trails Hurtado by 22 votes across the district. The recount in Fresno County gave him two additional votes and Hurtado lost one. The counting continues in Kings and Tulare counties.
