CHP BEGINS MAXIMUM ENFORCEMENT PERIOD INDEPENDENCE DAY

All available CHP officers will be working to keep our highways safe this long holiday weekend, starting at 6:00 Wednesday night. The Maximum Enforcement Period will last through Sunday night, with officers looking for speeders and other unsafe drivers. A news release says 68 people died in crashes across the state during the July Fourth holiday last year, and nearly half were not wearing their seat belt. More than 1,200 arrests were made for DUI.
