A man convicted of murder in the shooting death of a young Bakersfield boy will spend life in prison. A judge ruled Tuesday Jonathan Knight, 35, will not be eligible for parole after his conviction in October on eleven counts including murder and attempted murder. Kason Guyton, 5, was an unintended target who was shot to death in a car-to-car shooting on California Avenue at S Street in February 2017. Prosecutors argued Knight targeted a rival gang member and unintentionally hit Kason and Kason’s 7-year-old brother. Knight was also found guilty of several charges related to a shooting on Remington Avenue in 2019.
