The Shafter police chief has stepped down. City officials announced Wednesday Kevin Zimmermann has voluntarily resigned the position he’s held since 2016. A statement from the city says Zimmerman has worked tirelessly to strengthen the Shafter Police Department and improve public safety. Randy Milligan will lead the department in the interim. Milligan has been with Shafter PD for 26 years.
