New numbers in the back-and-forth vote count in a tight race for a Kern County Supervisor’s seat. The latest vote count shows incumbent Leticia Perez recapturing the lead over challenger Kimberly Salas in the fight for the District 5 seat. Friday’s count shows Perez ending out Salas by 67 votes. The lead in the race has flipped from one candidate to the other several times since the election on November 5. The Kern Elections Division says there are around 2,900 more ballots to count. Results are expected on Tuesday. The California Secretary of State will certify election results on December 13.
