A Bakersfield urologist has been accused of gross negligence and incompetence. The accusation was filed Friday by the director of the Medical Board of California against Dr. David Horovitz in connection to the death of a patient during a kidey operation in 2022. Horovitz was reportedly unable to control excessive bleeding during the robotic procedure at Mercy Hospital on a 63-year-old man and allegedly damaged the patient’s renal artery. The patient died after the hours-long operation. Horovitz could lose his license if the board finds the alleged missteps resulted in the man’s death.
