delano schools closed as manhunt continues

Schools in the Delano Unified School District are closed Wednesday morning as the search continues for a convicted killer who escaped from prison officials. Cesar Hernandez, 34, managed to jump out of a prison van at the Delano courthouse Monday after being transported for a hearing at the facility near 10th Avenue and Kensington Street. Police combed nearby neighborhoods Tuesday in the search for Hernandez who was convicted in 2019 for a murder in Los Angeles County. The district says its schools remain closed to ensure student safety and to allow law enforcement to conduct searches at school campuses.
