You’ll see increased security at this year’s Bakersfield Christmas parade. Police say they’re expecting a higher turnout than previous years at the 42nd annual event scheduled for tonight from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The parade route will be the same as previous years, however BPD will install new barricades along the route and will use larger vehicles, and more of them, to block intersections. They’ll also put a greater number of officers at specific locations. Parking along the parade route and nearby streets will be prohibited until 11:00 p.m.
