sentencing delayed for union avenue pimp

Medical problems have caused a delay in sentencing for a woman who forced her girlfriend to prostitute herself at a seedy hotel in south Bakersfield. But Javonna Lewis, 26, will be sentenced on January 7, 2025, and could spend life in prison after abusing her 17-year-old lover as the girl slept at the Desert Star Motel in December 2020. Lewis was convicted in October on numerous charges including human trafficking, pimping of a minor, torture, kidnapping, and use of a deadly weapon. The motel on Union Avenue closed in January 2021 after an investigation uncovered illegal activity including prostitution.
