Two men are in custody after a high-speed pursuit in east Bakersfield. It started at around 9:00 a.m. Friday when police tried to stop an allegedly stolen SUV in the 3200 block of Bernard Street. Julian Lugo, 36, and Douglas Morgan, 63, reportedly led police on a chase that ended almost an hour later on Mt. Vernon Avenue at Lucky Street. The pair allegedly threw an AR-15 rifle and a loaded magazine from the vehicle during the chase. The Highway Patrol helped in the pursuit. Lugo and Morgan face charges including possession of a stolen vehicle, evading, and weapons violations.
