Two occupants aboard a small plane were able to escape unharmed after it crashed near Shafter. It happened around 11:15 a.m. Sunday when the plane landed upside down on the south side of East Lerdo Highway, near Minter Field Airport. Both people refused medical attention. Shafter police are investigating the crash.
