Former Kern County Supervisor Zack Scrivner entered a plea of not guilty Friday during his arraignment on child abuse and gun charges.
The former District Two supervisor was charged with three felony counts of alleged child abuse, and two felony counts of alleged possession of assault weapons, but no sexual abuse charges were filed.
Scrivner stepped down from office in August 2024 after being accused of sexually assaulting one of his four children at their home in Tehachapi. Sheriff’s officials say a search of the home turned up 30 guns, a small portion of psychedelic mushrooms, electronics, and possible evidence of assault and sexual assault.
Scrivner returns to court May 1.
