The identity of a 44-year-old man who was fatally shot in south Bakersfield has been released.

The Kern County Coroner’s Office says Carl Powell Jr. was shot in the 2100 block of Lotus Lane Saturday afternoon and died at Kern Medical.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to contact the Bakersfield police Department.
