The United Farm Workers and five Kern County residents are suing the Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection, and U.S. Border Patrol following a week-long immigration sting in Bakersfield in January.

Federal officials say the operation focused on illegal immigrants with criminal convictions, however the ACLU claims federal agents targeted people of color including farm workers and laborers regardless of their immigration status.
