A Romanian national linked to EBT skimming thefts in Kern County appeared in court Tuesday.

Bogdan Boceanu, 23, was not allowed to post bail after being arrested March 1 with what authorities say were 36 cloned EBT cards and over $4,000 in stolen cash.

Boceanu could possibly be the fifth Romanian citizen directly tied to the theft of hundreds of thousands of dollars in EBT payments to Kern County recipients.

He returns to court Thursday.
