A pedestrian was struck and killed in east Bakersfield.

It happened late Sunday night on Edison Highway at Mount Vernon Avenue as the pedestrian was walking northbound across Edison Highway into the westbound lanes outside a marked crosswalk. He died st the scene.

The Highway Patrol says the driver was a 46-year-old man driving a 2004 Toyota Scion.
