A Bakersfield man has pleaded guilty to charges related to making a bomb that was found near a community pool in his neighborhood.
The United States District Attorney’s Office says Robert Hunt, 40, entered the plea on Monday to being a felon in possession of a destructive device and manufacturing a destructive device.
Federal prosecutors say the device was manufactured in July 2022 and contained metal screws.
Hunt was previously convicted in Kern County for second-degree robbery and first-degree burglary and served 11 years. He faces up to 25 years on the new charges when he’s sentenced in July.
