A Shafter sex offender has been arrested for alleged possession of child pornography.

Erik Ruiz was taken into custody Friday morning after a search warrant was executed in the 100 block of Frances Avenue.

Authorities say Homeland Security Investigations, the Secret Service, and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation assisted Shafter police in the operation which was part of an ongoing child pornography investigation.

Ruiz was on felony probation at the time of his arrest.
