We’re learning more about a tragic fire that took the lives of a mother and her four young children in the eastern Kern desert town of Edwards.

Witness in the 18200 block of Claymine Road told dispatchers about a trailer fully engulfed in flames at around 12:15 a.m. Thursday.

A mother in her twenties identified as Maya Howard, her young twins, a baby girl, and another child died at the scene. Howard’s boyfriend and two older children escaped unhurt.

The cause of the blaze in under investigation.

Howard’s sister Chloe has established a Go Fund Me campaign for Maya and her children.
