students protest ice raids

Students from several high schools in the Kern High School District walked out of class Wednesday morning and made their way to downtown Bakersfield to protest the recent ICE raids and deportations throughout California. District officials said they were aware of the impending walkout and sent a message to parents the day before.

About 1,000 students from schools including Mira Monte and Del Oro High converged on the Kern County Courthouse on Truxtun Avenue.

President Trump’s designated border czar, Tom Homan, told Fox News on Wednesday that ICE had conducted 308 arrests across the country in an effort to deport illegal immigrants with criminal convictions.
