A 21-year-old woman accused of a DUI crash that left two people dead in southwest Bakersfield enters a not guilty plea in court.
Annabell Correa was formally charged Tuesday by Kern County prosecutors with two counts of second-degree murder after her car slammed into an Uber carrying 30-year-olds Max and Desiree Mooney at the intersection of Stockdale Highway and Coffee Road March 16.
Correa is also charged with two counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, four counts related to DUI causing injury, driving without a license and failing to stop at a red light.
Max Mooney was declared dead at the scene, and Desiree Mooney was pronounced dead at Kern Medical. The couple had gone out for drinks and were taking a rideshare vehicle home.
