Brent Michaels

Brent Michaels

Brent Michaels has been a part of the KUZZ family since 2010 and has served as Program Director since 2017, guiding the station with the same mix of heart, humor, and community spirit he brings to the airwaves every afternoon. His work has been recognized nationally, earning six CMA nominations for On-Air Personality of the Year and three ACM nominations in the same category. In 2023, Brent received one of country radio’s highest honors—the Tom Rivers Humanitarian Award—for his tireless commitment to local causes, from raising money for children’s hospitals to championing the Boys & Girls Club of Kern County on Dancing At The Stars. His leadership has helped KUZZ remain Bakersfield’s heritage country station while deepening its role as a trusted, community-first voice.

Beyond the studio, Brent is a familiar face at local events, from the Kern County Fair to the Bakersfield Marathon, where he proudly sports his “Run Ugly” gear. A self-proclaimed coffee lover with a soft spot for Twix bars, Brent balances his passion for country music with family life, early-morning Orangetheory workouts, and cheering on the San Francisco 49ers. He treasures time with his daughters Gracie and Molly, his dogs Malia and Kala, and his best friends, and he loves finding ways to bring both laughter and kindness to his listeners. Whether he’s introducing the latest country star, raising funds for a cause, or simply making Bakersfield smile on the drive home, Brent is proud to call this community home.
