Police say an elderly man is is severely hurt after being struck by a motorist in downtown Bakersfield.

Sgt. Matt Peery says investigators were called to 4th and N streets just before 8:40 p.m. Monday night.

“Officers responded and discovered the subject was suffering from major injuries,” he said. “He was transported to a local hospital.”

Peery says investigators don’t have any information on the suspect. He also refused to say anything about the victim’s status.
